Leading into the All-Star festivities, the Dodgers are seeing stars with how they’ve been knocked around in recent days.
The defending champions have lost six straight games as of July 11, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Astros in L.A., and a three-game sweep at the hands of the Brewers in Milwaukee.
In those six losses, the Dodgers have been outscored 44-10. They scored just one run in four of those defeats.
Still, L.A. is favored to win the World Series, as it maintains a five-game lead in the NL West and still has the second-best record in baseball behind the Tigers, who are second on the title oddsboard.
Going back-to-back in professional baseball has proven difficult in the history of the sport, meaning, although the Dodgers are favored to repeat, it will by no means be easy.
The last time a team won consecutive World Series, the Yankees won three in a row from 1998 to 2000. Prior to that, the Blue Jays repeated in 1993 after winning it all in 1992.
