Pitching is on fire again.
Several stars on the mound — both fresh-faced and well-traveled — lit it up last season, including a rookie in Pittsburgh.
It’s nearly time to see which flamethrowers can etch their names in the MLB history books after the 2025 season.
Let’s take a look at the odds for the AL and NL Cy Young Awards at FanDuel Sportsbook as of July 14.
American League Cy Young 2025
Tarik Skubal: -200 (bet $10 to win $15 total)
Garrett Crochet: +240 (bet $10 to win $34 total)
Jacob deGrom: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)
Hunter Brown: +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total)
Max Fried: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)
What to know: Detroit’s Tarik Skubal was last season’s winner in the AL, and it looks like he just might go back-to-back. The 28-year-old is off to a strong start in 2025. He’s 10-3 with 153 strikeouts (third) in 19 starts, alongside a 2.23 ERA (T-second) and 0.83 WHIP (first). The last pitcher to win the award twice in a row was Jacob deGrom for the New York Mets in 2018 and 2019. Second on the board is Boston’s Garrett Crochet at +240, who is 10-4 with 160 strikeouts (first) and a 2.23 ERA (T-second) in 20 starts.
National League Cy Young 2025
Zack Wheeler: -125 (bet $10 to win $18 total)
Paul Skenes: -105 (bet $10 to win $19.52 total)
Christopher Sanchez: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)
Logan Webb: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
What to know: Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes can’t buy a win, and it has finally cost him at the sportsbooks. He is 4-8 through 20 starts, but most of that has to do with a lack of offensive support. He leads the league with a 2.01 ERA and ranks fifth with a 0.93 WHIP, in addition to 131 strikeouts (eighth) so far this season. But let’s take his last three starts for example: He is 1-2 despite allowing only two runs and striking out 21 in 15 innings. In those three starts, his offense scored two runs. Now atop the board is Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler. He’s 9-3 with a 2.36 ERA (sixth), 154 strikeouts (second) and a 0.86 WHIP (second).
